Apple production across Australia has been dropping in recent years. In 2012 289,000 tonnes of apples were produced, that is 11,000 less than 2011.
Over the three year period from 2010 to 2012, it was 2011 that produced the most amount of apples. Across some areas of Australia there was as much as a 16 per cent drop in fruit growth.
Two states out of the six had an increase in apple production that being Western Australia, up 13 percent and Victoria up two percent. Victoria has the highest apple production because it has the predominately the coldest climate.
